From Tragedy Comes Strength. Utah K9 Named in Honor of 4 Year Old Boy

In summer of 2009 while taking a nap under the hot Utah sun, 4 year old Cooper Kofford was tragically and accidentally run over while laying in his front driveway. The incident was heartbreaking for his family and community. Many years later, Cooper is being remembered by the Orem Police Department K9 Unit in Utah, with their newest dog being named in his honor.

Incredibly, K9 Cooper was donated by the Kofford family through fund raising efforts. A way to say thank you to the first responders that helped their family get through that painful day.

Cooper is also outfitted with his very own custom-fit K9 Storm Patrol Swat Vest. The Patrol Swat Vest was donated by Chris Johnson of Kilo International, a close family friend. He wanted to give Cooper the best protection possible to help him do his job and come home safely. The specialty embroidery on the inside of the vest appropriately reads "In Loving Memory of Cooper Kofford".

There are no words that can describe the feeling of losing a child, but the Kofford family is determined to move forward with strength in a celebration of Cooper’s life. We are proud to have been a part of such an amazing story.
